In Loving Memory: Linda Kay Hughes

Linda Kay Hughes, age 62, of Little Rock, Arkansas, entered eternal rest on June 27, 2025. She

was born on July 29, 1962, in Dermott, Arkansas, to the late Earlene Hampton Hughes of

McGehee, AR, and the late Alex Hughes, Sr. of Little Rock, AR.

Linda graduated from McGehee High School in May 1980, remembered for her determined

spirit and gentle heart. She went on to attend Great Rivers Vocational College (now part of the

University of Arkansas System) from 1981 to 1982, where she studied both Business and

Carpentry—a reflection of her resourcefulness, creativity, and hardworking nature.

Linda was known for always walking with purpose. She carried herself with grace and

intention, never hesitating to extend a helping hand or offer hospitality to others. Her heart

and home were open, and her acts of kindness left lasting impressions on those around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

 Her one and only son, Derrick Bailey of Arkadelphia, AR

 One brother, Alex Hughes, Jr. of Monticello, AR

 Three sisters:

  Annette King Crift of Monticello, AR

  Angelette Hughes Lowe (Charles) of McGehee, AR

  Sandy Hughes Lee (Johnny) of Pickens, AR

 Two aunts:

  Mary Penny of Little Rock, AR

  Murlene Penny Hunt of Montgomery, AL

 Two special friends:

   John Holland and Pam Pattillo of Little Rock, AR

She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will

continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
