Forever In Our Hearts: Alex Van "Alliecat" Williams (Suggs)

Alex Van “Alliecat" Williams (Suggs), 60, transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He was born on July 27, 1965, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Alex accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He graduated from West Robeson High School in Maxton, North Carolina.


Throughout his life, Alex worked many jobs and was known for his strong work ethic. He was employed with Campbell Soup Company in Maxton, North Carolina, for over twenty years.

In his spare time, Alex enjoyed spending time with his family, his wife, and his children. He loved planting in his garden, completing crossword puzzles, and helping design the new family home where he lived for the past six months.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Ann Cribb Williams; his biological father, Bill Suggs; his adopted father, Bill Byron Williams; and his brother, Joseph Suggs.

He leaves to cherish and continue his legacy: his childhood friend, soulmate, and devoted wife of 11 years, Betty McGraw Lee Williams; his beloved sons, Tee Jay (Blue) and Turelle Lee Edwards (Jakayah); his daughter, Terika Roleyah Edwards Chatman (Jabril); and his godson, Augustus "Guss" Simmers; and a host of other siblings , aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins and friends.


His love, strength, and gentle spirit will continue to guide his family every day.
